She developed the 1956 Wu Experiment, which established that conservation of parity was violated by the Weak Force – one of the four fundamental forces of the universe, along with the Strong Force, Electromagnetism, and Gravit. While her male colleagues received the 1957 Nobel Prize for Physics, her work was ignored. Born in Jiangsu Province, she attended several universities in China, as well as Michigan, UC-Berkeley, and Caltech. In World War II, she was in the Manhattan Project, creating the atomic bomb.
